Our first vacation with Jiexian

We had a short vacation trip with Jiexian to Cuenca after the SALT conference. It was a very blessed trip. πŸ™‚

In our flight to Cuenca, we managed to see the peak of Cotopaxi on our left side. It was very beautiful. When we landed in Cuenca, the weather was cooling and refreshing. We thought of taking a taxi to our hotel but thank God that there was actually free transportation from the airport to our hotel. Moreover, there were only the 3 of us in the hotel van. It was like private transportation for us. πŸ˜€

We walked around the downtown of Cuenca in the morning and met up with our friend, Karen who lives in Cuenca for lunch. She brought us to try some typical food – Mote pillo (white corn with eggs), arvas (some sort of beans) and barbecue meat. I like the barbecue meat especially. It was tender and sweet. After that, Karen brought us for a bus tour around Cuenca. We took some photos of the scenery of Cuenca from the mountain top.

As we do not have much to do at night in Cuenca. we spent our time in Singaporean style – shopping, dinner and then movie. We watched Captain America together. It was quite a good show. πŸ™‚

On the second day, Sven arrived and joined us to visit ingapirca. This is the inca ruin in Ecuador. The journey from Cuenca to ingapirca was spectacular. The scenery was like the wallpaper we see on our computers. Thank God for great weather and we could really enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. When we reached ingapirca, our tour guide patiently brought us around and explained to us about the inca civilization. It was an eye-opener for us.

At night, we shared for a long time over dinner and talked about our past, church and many other things. We got to know some secrets of Jiexian like who she had a liking in the past etc. haha… I shall not put down the names here. We had a great time of fellowship and went back to our hotel room after that. As we brought along our guitar and songbook to Cuenca, we sang many English praise and worship songs which we had not sung for a long time.

On the third day, we woke up later and had a relatively easy day. We just visited a town which specialises in selling gold and silver, and strolled along the streets to look at the handicrafts. In the afternoon, we did some reading in a cafe and flew back to Quito after that. It was a fruitful and restful trip. Thank God for the wonderful fellowship too! πŸ˜€
