We had a wonderful retreat over the last weekend. It was a really memorable, working together with a very dynamic coreteam and enjoying the sea and fellowship of all our church members and friends.
We had devotionals, we dipped in/strolled at the sea, played games, and of coz, we had wonderful teaching sessions and praise and worship. And we danced at night..! hahaha.. our church is made up of really fun-loving and amazing people. The retreat was really enjoyable! Joshua, Hannah, GQ, Tim and I were made to dance too.. hahaa.. oh, we danced to really funky Christian music. It was really funny… haha… Our people are a very sporting bunch. It was very encouraging to see friends and visitors, and even Rosa, who is like a mother to us, and at her age, she still gave her best to run and play with us so vigorously! We were really encouraged and surprised! GQ said in his sharing at the end that we, the Ecuador church taught him how to have fun.
Indeed, GQ had a wonderful time too, bonding with the church members despite the language barrier. Our church is really full of very warm people 🙂 We want to really thank GQ for his help in our retreat. He helped lead us in very very enjoyable team-building games and was also the official photographer. He took LOTS of pictures and videos! 🙂 We’ll upload them soon coz we need to go through them first.. hahaha.. too many!
It was the first time too, that Tim and I taught the workshops fully in Spanish. A challenge but we thank God for his amazing help and anointing. 🙂 We had fun in our class with different activities. Personally, I really liked the activity where 2 teams had to dress up someone as a soldier of God, with the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, sword of the Spirit and feet fitted with the readiness that comes with the gospel of peace.. etc. Then we learnt more about the armor of God. 🙂 It was fun watching them being dressed up and learning about the powerful armor of God with a model right in front of us. haha!
It was also our privilege to be part of very significant moments that happened in the church retreat. On the second night, we taught about Holy Spirit Baptism and we saw 5 members (including 3 of our coreteam) receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It was wonderful and really an impactful and memorable moment. 🙂 I also sensed the holy spirit helping me as I prayed for them.. in spanish… 🙂 I think the Holy Spirit really helped me to improve my spanish! We are really happy and encouraged to know that now they have the HS close to them to guide and help them to grow! Those who received the HS Bapt were also very glad and amazed by God and thankful for the new experience. Pray for the HS to fill them everyday and that this will be yet another great step of growth for them!
We were also privileged to witness Rosa and Beto’s official commitment to become members of our church! 🙂 They are like family to us, very caring! And they treat us like their son and daughter. They really make us feel at home and loved. 🙂 We also witnessed the water baptism of Rosa! Woo hoo!! 🙂 Praise the Lord!
Even on the way back, we enjoyed ourselves, singing songs and chatting about 4 or 5 of the 7 hours back home! It was amazing.. everyone was spontaneous and there was so much laughter and camaderie. GQ commented that our church really treats us like family. 🙂
What a wonderful first church camp for Tim and I. Thank you Lord… 🙂
